The Drop

A gentle grounding practice for a busy mind

The Drop practice is created and recorded by Olakunle Abimbola. Updated 1 November 2026.

If you are searching for a way to feel more grounded, you may want a moment that asks less of you. The Drop offers a short guided practice for noticing what is present without first having to solve what is on your mind.

Here, “grounding” describes the intention to feel more present. The practice leaves room for different experiences.

What does grounding mean in The Drop?

It means giving attention a place to rest while thoughts are still allowed to be there. You are not trying to become a better person, force positive thoughts or reach a special state.

The practice uses a point of light and a movement towards the centre of your chest. It is an imaginative way of directing attention.

What will I do during the recording?

In six minutes, Ola's real voice guides you to picture or sense a point of light, welcome thoughts into it in your own colours, and let those thoughts carry the light down towards your chest. Then there is time to rest and listen.

You do not need to visualise perfectly or find an answer. You may notice quiet, more thoughts, a feeling, or very little. None of those experiences makes the listen a failure.

Where can I try it?

Choose somewhere safe to pause, with sound you can hear. Never listen while driving or doing something that needs your full attention. You can keep your eyes open, pause or stop whenever you need to.

The First Drop is free and needs no account. After it has downloaded for offline use, it can be replayed without a connection. An account is optional for a separate private journal that syncs across your devices.

What if I am still in my head afterwards?

There is no result to force. You can return another time, or leave it here. If the phrase “getting out of your head” feels unclear, this explanation describes exactly what it means here.

If you are looking at a repeating thought loop, you can read about that intention before trying the recording. The Drop does not diagnose, give advice or replace professional support.
